On June 30, 2020, the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, within the framework of the functioning of the Interdisciplinary Research Cluster “Belarusian Economic School”, held a panel discussion “Ensuring the Economic Growth of the Republic of Belarus in the Context of New Challenges and Threats”, dedicated to the Day of the Economist.

The event was attended by 40 representatives of scientific organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, performing research in the field of economics, higher education institutions and mass media.

Scientists exchanged expert opinions on how to ensure sustainable socio-economic development of Belarus in the new modern conditions.

The panel discussion was opened by the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Academician Vladimir GUSAKOV, who in his speech emphasized that “Today we need to search for truly new ways, forms and mechanisms that would make it possible not only to maintain the achieved economic growth rate, but also significantly accelerate it, make it sustainable and balanced, despite all the challenges and threats”, which is especially significant in the face of new challenges and threats.

Within the framework of the panel discussion, thematic reports were made by the Director of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus Vasily HURSKY, Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Peter NIKITENKO, Head of the Department of Innovation Management of Belarusian State University Valery BAYNEV.

The discussion was actively attended by Vice-Rector for Research at the Belarusian State Economic University Aleksey BYKOV, Professor of the Department of Theoretical and Institutional Economics of the Belarusian State University Peter LEMESCHENKO, Head of the Department of Economics and Law of the Belarusian National Technical University Sergey SOLODOVNIKOV and others.
