13, 2024, an enlightening talk «On the preparation and conduct of the 2024
election campaign» was held at the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus
(hereinafter referred to as the Institute), organized by the Council of Young
Scientists of the Institute.
Director of
the Institute Denis MUKHA addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.
He noted that in 2024 there will be a single voting day for the first time,
which is provided for by the latest amendments made to the Constitution of the
Republic of Belarus. He also emphasized that a responsible approach to the
voting procedure is an opportunity to show a civic position and directly
influence the well-being of the country.
Associate
Professor of the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Law, BSU,
Candidate of Political Sciences, Elena ABRAMENKO made a report on the topic
«Innovations of the Electoral Legislation of the Republic of Belarus». She
spoke in an accessible and visual manner about the main changes in the
electoral legislation. During the conversation, the speaker noted the
importance of the upcoming election campaign, as well as its impact on the
composition of the delegates to the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly.
A
question-and-answer conversation with young scientists about the procedure for
nominating candidates for deputies was held by the chairman of the Pervomaiskaya
district organization of the Republican public association «Belaya Rus», deputy
of the Minsk City Council of Deputies of the 28th convocation Sergei MAZOVKA.
The conversation had an interactive form, and its participants demonstrated
involvement and interest.
Interesting
facts about the peculiarities of domestic and foreign electoral systems were
brought to the audience by the senior researcher of the Institute, Chairman of
the primary trade union organization of the Institute Albina SIBIRSKAYA.
Following
the principle of peer education, young scientists of the Institute Vladimir
GRINKO and Andrei SULEIKOV spoke about the history and current political and
legal status of the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly. The speakers emphasized
that the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly is a democratic institution for
activating public opinion and one of the most important forms of democracy in
the Republic of Belarus.
As a result
of the conversation, its participants came to the conclusion: elections to
Parliament and local Councils of Deputies are an opportunity to participate in
governing the country, influence decisions made and see the results of their
talent, expertise and hard work.
