On May 28,
2024, employees of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus visited the
Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War.
For
reference: On September 30, 1943, the Central Committee of the CP(b)B decided
to “create a museum of the history of the Belarusian people struggle against
the Nazi occupiers during the Great Patriotic War,” temporarily placing it in
the building of the State Historical Museum in Moscow.
On August
26, 1944, by order of P.K. Ponomarenko, a group of museum researchers went to
Moscow with the aim of transporting from there to Minsk objects from the
exhibition “Belarus Lives...” and the anniversary exhibition of Belarusian
artists dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the BSSR.
On July 2,
2014, on the eve of the 70th anniversary celebration of the liberation of
Belarus from the Nazi invaders, with the participation of the President of the
Republic of Belarus A.G. Lukashenko and President of the Russian Federation
V.V. Putin opened an exposition of the Belarus State Museum of the History of
the Great Patriotic War.
Today, the
Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War is the most popular in
Belarus: about 570,000 people visit it every year. Every year hundreds of
thousands of tourists from more than 100 countries of the world come to it.
Ten halls
gradually introduce the history of the Great Patriotic War, the destinies and
exploits of the heroes, and the tragedy of the civilian population.
The “Road
of War” hall is equipped with unique units of military armored vehicles
including T-34 tanks with a 76-mm gun (L-11), IS-2, T-3 (Pz.Kpfw. III),
Katyusha MLRS, PO-2 and Li-2 aircraft. It is noteworthy that the T-3 tank
(Pz.Kpfw. III) was recovered on June 22, 2001 near Sychevka (Smolensk region)
at 4 am.
One of the
key elements of the exhibition - “The Partisan Movement and the Anti-Fascist
Underground Struggle in Belarus” - symbolizes the invaluable contribution of
partisans and underground fighters to the battle against the Nazi invaders in
the occupied territory of Belarus in the period from June 1941 to July 1944. It
includes examples of the information and propaganda work of the Red Army, in
particular the brochure “How sharp-eyed guys tracked down the foe”, photo
archives with biographical data of partisans in all regions of Belarus, etc.
Galina
KRYUKOVA, an employee of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, was
strongly impressed by the installation of the fascist-German invaders’ attack
on the city of Zaslavl.
The Soviet
military doctor, winner of the Florence Nightingale Medal for exceptional
dedication to her work and courage in helping the wounded, Zinaida
TUSNOLOBOVA-MARCHENKO, amazes with her great feat and fortitude.
The life of
the population of the lands captured by the Nazis did not go unnoticed. The
museum acquaints with the written memoirs of prisoners of besieged Leningrad,
their household items, etc.
A special
collection is dedicated to the great Belarusian artist, Hero of Belarus Mikhail
SAVITSKY, which presents works that convey the horrors of wartime: “Partisan
Madonna”, “Dance with Torches”, “Prisoner 32815”, “Ettersberg - Golgotha of the
20th Century”, “Selection” and etc.
The unique
museum exhibition made an indelible impression on the staff of the Institute of
Economics of NAS of Belarus.
