On September 24, 2024, the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus hosted an international scientific seminar “Economic Development and China-Belarus Cooperation”

On the Belarusian side, the seminar was attended by Director of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus Denis MUKHA (welcoming speech, summing up the results of the seminar), Deputy Director for Science Alexander GOTOVSKY (report on “Interaction with the People’s Republic of China in the context of strategic priorities of the new stage of development of the Republic of Belarus”), Deputy Director Andrei PILYUTIK, Head of the Centre of World Economy Tatiana VERTINSKAYA (report on “Development Prospects of the China-Belarus Industrial Park “Great Stone” as a Centre of Economic and Innovation Growth of the Republic of Belarus”), Elena PRESNYAKOVA, Head of the Centre of Innovation and Investment Policy (report on “Strategic Directions of Joint Industrial Development of Belarus and China”), Yuri SHCHERBAKOV, Deputy Head of the Belarusian-Chinese Analytical Development Centre (report on “Belarusian-Chinese Analytical Development Centre as a Tool for Development of Bilateral Cooperation”) and other employees of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, including young scientists.

From the Chinese side, the seminar was attended by Director of the Institute of Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (IREECA CASS) SUN Zhuangzhi (welcoming remarks via videoconference), Deputy Director JIN Zhe (welcoming remarks, summarising the results of the seminar), Head of the Department of Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova and Baltic States ZHAO Huizhong (report on “Connecting the Belarusian Strategy for Long-Term Development with the Belt and Road Initiative”), Leading Researcher ZHANG Yanlu (report on “The Potential of Interregional Industrial Cooperation between China and Belarus on the Example of Automotive Industry”), Senior Researcher WANG Chao (report on “Innovation Cooperation between Belarus and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”), Researcher Xun Yixue, postgraduate student of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus LO Ju (report on “Development Dynamics of the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park “Great Stone”).

During the seminar, a wide exchange of views took place on the status and promising areas of further development of Belarusian-Chinese relations in the scientific, technical and analytical spheres. The participants of the seminar made a number of practical proposals to deepen bilateral co-operation between the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus and the IREECA CASS.

Director Denis MUKHA congratulated the Chinese colleagues on the 75th anniversary of the formation of the People’s Republic of China and the 59th anniversary of the establishment of the IREECA CASS and wished them health, well-being, and success in their professional activities.
