On September 19-20, 2024, the scientists of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus took part in the II International Research-to-Practice Conference “Technological Sovereignty of the Machine-Building Complex of Russia” (Yekaterinburg, Russia). The event was organised by the Department “Organisation of Machine-Building Production” of the Federal State Educational Institution of Higher Education “Ural Federal University named after the First President of Russia B.N. Yeltsin”. Partners and co-organisers of the conference included: Ministry of Industry and Science of the Sverdlovsk region, the Union of Defence Industries’ Enterprises of the Sverdlovsk region, the Institute of Economics of the Ural Branch of RAS, the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus and others.

As part of the events, the staff attended the research seminar “Industrial Policy in the Union State of Russia and Belarus”, which was held on 19 September at the Institute of Economics of the Ural Branch of RAS (Ekaterinburg, Russia). The event was moderated by Victoria AKBERDINA, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Corresponding Member of RAS, Deputy Director of the Institute of Economics of the Ural Branch of RAS.

The seminar participants were presented a report by Elena PRESNYAKOVA, Head of the Centre of Innovation and Investment Policy of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, on the topic “Formation and Implementation of a Common Industrial Policy in the Context of Ensuring Technological Sovereignty of the Union State”. The presentation additionally reflected the survey results of Belarusian industrial enterprises to assess their readiness to introduce new and advanced production technologies. The survey was conducted with the methodological support of the Institute of Economics of the Ural Branch of RAS.

During the II International Research-to-Practice Conference “Technological Sovereignty of the Machine-Building Complex of Russia” on 20 September a plenary session was organised. The moderator of the event was Vladimir SCHYOLOKOV, Director General of Union of Defence Industries’ Enterprises of the Sverdlovsk Region, Candidate of Sociology. Among the speakers were representatives of the government of the Sverdlovsk region; Lomonosov Moscow State University; Rostech State Corporation; and banking institutions. At the plenary session Elena PRESNYAKOVA made a report on the topic “Industrial Integration of Belarus and Russia as a Condition for the Formation of a Technologically Sovereign State”.

The moderator of the section “Economic and Technological Integration within the Union State of Russia and Belarus: Production Integration, Technological Sovereignty and National Security” was Ekaterina POTAPTSEVA, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, Senior Researcher of the Institute of Economics of the Ural Branch of RAS. The report on the topic “Use of technical and innovation potential for sustainable development of the Union State” was presented by Nina STOMA, Junior Researcher of the Centre of Innovation and Investment Policy of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus.

The employees of the Institute of Economics also took part in a tour around the JSC “Production Association “Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant” named after E.S. Yalamov” and visited the business round table “Productivity management of a modern enterprise: robotisation and technological modernisation as a key trend in conditions of personnel shortage”, where representatives of industrial, educational and scientific organisations spoke.

As part of the additional programme, the Institute’s employees visited the Ural Main Department of the Bank of Russia with a tour “History of Banking in the Urals” and the museum of the Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B.N. Yeltsin.
