On October 9-11, 2024, the III International Research-to-Practice Conference “Sustainable Development of Regions: Problems and Prospects” was held in St. Petersburg at the Institute for Regional Economic Studies of RAS
On October 9-11, 2024, the III International Research-to-Practice Conference “Sustainable Development of Regions: Problems and Prospects”, in which the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus traditionally acts as a co-organiser, was held in St. Petersburg at the site of the Institute for Regional Economic Studies of RAS.
The conference was attended by representatives of the Republic of Belarus, the Russian Federation, and the People’s Republic of China.
On the first day of the conference Vitaly PILUI, Deputy Director of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, made a report on “Preservation of consumer co-operation in Belarus as a tool of social involvement of the authorities in support of individual settlements”.
Oleg KOLEDA, Senior Researcher of the Sector of International Competitiveness and Regional Development, delivered a report on “Current Trends in the Development of Regional Transport and Logistics Infrastructure in the Republic of Belarus: Economic Growth and Sustainable Development”.
Vitaly PILUI, Lyudmila VORONETSKAYA and Oleg KOLEDA made comments during the round table “Prospects of Artificial Intelligence Application for Management and Planning of Regional Systems Development” as invited experts.
On the second day of the conference the work was held on the basis of the North-West Institute of Management of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration. The plenary session of the conference was opened by Aleksey SHMATKO, Director of the Institute for Regional Economic Studies of RAS.
Denis MUKHA, Director of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, made a welcoming speech at the plenary session, presented and handed over the works of the Belarusian School of Economics to the conference organisers.
Lyudmila VORONETSKAYA, Head of the Socio-Demographic Policy Sector, delivered a plenary report on “China’s Achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals to Address Poverty and Economic Inequality”.
Vitaly PILUI, Lyudmila VORONETSKAYA and Oleg KOLEDA delivered expert opinions at the round table “Modern concept of sustainable development based on ESG principles”.
On the third day of the conference, the staff of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus took part in 3 panel sessions: “Social Responsibility of Business as a Condition for Sustainable Development of Regions in Modern Conditions”, “The Role of Scientific and Educational Organisations in Ensuring Sustainable Development of Russian Regions”, “Oleg Petrovich Litovka in the Memory of Colleagues and Friends”, as well as in summing up the results of the conference.
