Young scientists of the Institute of Economics took part in the annual All-Russian Conference of Young Scientists “Economic Theory: Meeting with Reality. Economics in a Changing World”
On October 25-26, 2024, the Institute of Economics of RAS hosted the annual All-Russian Conference of Young Scientists “Economic Theory: Meeting with Reality”, organised by the Council of Young Scientists of the Institute of Economics of RAS (CYS of IE of RAS).
This year the subject of discussion was sustainable development. The conference participants structured their reports within the framework of the topics proposed by the organisers for discussion: ESG development agenda; human capital development as a topical challenge of public policy; development of green economy and green finance; international trade in the context of geopolitical challenges; peculiarities of foreign trade in the context of sanctions pressure.
Mikhail LOBANOV, Deputy Director of the Institute of Economics of RAS, opened the conference. In his welcoming speech to the conference participants he briefly characterised the geopolitical situation in the modern world and noted that the changes taking place in the world economy require finding new solutions to the emerging challenges for the economy of every country. In his speech he also noted the relevance of the speakers’ topics and wished them productive work.
The conference programme included 6 sessions and 31 reports. Speakers represented leading research centres and universities in Russia and Belarus, including the Higher School of Economics (Moscow), Lomonosov Moscow State University, Institute of Europe of RAS (Moscow), Institute of National Economic Forecasting of RAS (Moscow), Institute of Economics of the Ural Branch of RAS (Yekaterinburg), G.V. Plekhanov Russian Economic University (Moscow), Institute for Regional Economic Studies of RAS (St. Petersburg), Saratov State University (Saratov), Dagestan State University (Dagestan), Gyeonggi University (Seoul), Moscow Government University, Southern Federal University (Rostov-on-Don) and others.
Marina LEBEDEVICH, Researcher at the Centre of Human Development, Chairperson of the Council of Young Scientists of the Institute, made a report “Greening of Workplaces as a Factor of Sustainable Development in the Republic of Belarus”. In her report she highlighted promising directions of greening existing jobs and creating new “green” jobs, and offered recommendations on greening jobs in the Republic of Belarus.
