On October 29-31, young scientists and employees of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus attended the 21st International Scientific Conference “Youth in Science – 2024”, which was held at NAS of Belarus
On October 29-31, 2024, the 21st International Scientific Conference of Young Scientists “Youth in Science – 2024” (hereinafter referred to as the Conference) was held at NAS of Belarus.
This is the largest event in Belarus aimed at exchanging scientific knowledge and achievements among young scientists, as well as strengthening interdisciplinary ties and developing international scientific and technical cooperation. Over 600 young researchers took part in the conference. The geography of the participants is impressive: this year, young scientists from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Russia, Turkey, and Uzbekistan presented their reports.
The grand opening of the Conference took place on October 29, 2024. The Chairman of the Presidium of NAS of Belarus, Academician Vladimir GUSAKOV, the Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus, Corresponding Member Andrei IVANETS, and members of the Council of Young Scientists of the International Association of Academies of Sciences addressed the forum participants with welcoming speeches.
After the grand opening of the conference, the work continued at sectional meetings. The topics of the participants’ reports were organized into 23 sections, covering a wide range of scientific research in such areas as agriculture, biology, medicine, chemistry, geology, humanities, as well as physical-technical and physical-mathematical sciences.
The section “Humanities and Arts” was supervised by the Chairperson of the Council of Young Scientists of the Department of Humanities and Arts of NAS of Belarus, researcher of the Center of Human Development and Demography Marina LEBEDEVICH. The mentioned section was the most numerous at the Conference and included about 160 reports in the following areas:
History, librarianship;
Culture, tourism, philology;
Education, pedagogy, psychology;
Law, political science;
Sociology, philosophy;
Economics.
Employees of the Institute of Economics actively participated in the work of the sections “Law, political science” and “Economics”.
The members of the jury “Law, political science” were the Head of the Center of State Building and Law, Candidate of Law Sciences, Associate Professor Ekaterina GLADKAYA (chairperson of the section), Head of the Sector of Environmental and Legal Studies, Candidate of Law Sciences, Maria KURILOVICH (co-chair of the section), junior researcher Vladislav KHOMICH (secretary of the section).
The section “Economics”, which was held at the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, was supervised by the Head of the Department of Macroeconomic and Financial Policy, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Alexander LUCHENOK. The Role of co-chair of the section was performed by the Deputy Director for Science and Innovation, Candidate of Economic Sciences Vitaly PILUI. The secretary was the Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of the Institute of Economics, researcher Marina LEBEDEVICH.
In total, 24 young scientists participated in the Conference from the Institute of Economics. The reports presented at the Conference were highly appreciated by the jury members, had proven scientific novelty and prospects for practical application of research results.
The final event of the conference was the international forum “Path to Science” (hereinafter - the Forum). Young scientists learned from the forum speakers about the certification procedures for highly qualified researchers, funding opportunities for youth research projects in Belarus and abroad, and personal research experience of established Belarusian and foreign scientists. The Forum ended with a ceremonial awarding of the 30 best speakers based on the results of the sections.
