On November 14, 2024, Plenary Session of the Annual International Research-to-Practice Conference “Strategy of Economic Development of Belarus: Challenges, Instruments and Prospects” took place

On November 14, 2024, the plenary session of the annual International Research-to-Practice Conference “Strategy of Economic Development of Belarus: Challenges, Instruments and Prospects” was held. The event was organised by the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus for the purpose of expert discussion of national economy development.

The plenary session was attended by representatives of domestic and foreign leading research organisations, institutions of higher education, state administration bodies, mass media, and business circles.

In order to ensure a broad expert discussion of the tasks of socio-economic development of Belarus and to maintain a high level of international scientific co-operation, the conference was broadcasted online on YouTube, ZOOM.

Denis MUKHA, Director of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, opened the conference. He noted the relevance of such events, the high importance of scientific integration of researchers from different countries, announced the programme of the sessions, regulations and speakers of the plenary session.

The Chairman of the Presidium of NAS of Belarus, Academician of NAS of Belarus, Honoured Scientist of the Republic of Belarus, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Vladimir GUSAKOV made a welcoming speech.

Welcoming words to the participants of the conference were voiced by Academician-Secretary of the Department of Humanities and Arts of NAS of Belarus, Academician of NAS of Belarus, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Alexander KOVALENYA.

The plenary session consisted of 12 scientific reports devoted to the issues of sustainable development of the national economy.

Vasily HURSKY, Chief Scientific Secretary of NAS of Belarus, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, outlined the prospects and directions of the Belarusian economy development at the present stage.

Director of the Executive Directorate of the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research, Academician of NAS of Belarus, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Alexei DAINEKO made a report on the main directions of fundamental research in the field of economics carried out with the grant support of the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research.

The development of input-output methodology to substantiate integration effects was reflected in the report of Alexander SHIROV, Director of the Institute of National Economic Forecasting of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor.

Natalya BERCHENKO, Director of the Economic Research Institute of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, focused on the priorities in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of Belarus in the new global context.

Alexander KNOBEL, Director of the Institute of International Economics and Finance of the Russian Foreign Trade Academy of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Candidate of Economic Sciences, spoke about the current state and possibilities of deepening integration between Russia and Belarus under the conditions of external constraints.

Yulia LAVRIKOVA, Director of the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Science “Institute of Economics of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences”, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, delivered an online report on spatial development and regional interaction between Russia and Belarus.

Vyacheslav SELIVERSTOV, Head of the Centre for Strategic Analysis and Planning of the Institute of Economics and Industrial Production Organisation of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the International Scientific Centre for Transboundary Interactions in North and North-East Asia of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Economic Sciences, presented the report “Russia and Belarus in Transforming Development Models and in Eurasian Transboundary Interactions: Joining Efforts”.

The discussion was continued by Andrei PILIPUK, Director of the Institute of System Research in Agribusiness of NAS of Belarus, Corresponding Member of NAS of Belarus, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, who outlined the potential for the development of intelligent agriculture in the Republic of Belarus.

Elena VANKEVICH, Vice-Rector for Scientific Work of Vitebsk State Technological University, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, outlined in her report the problems and prospects for the development of tools for analysing the dynamics and structure of vacancies in the Republic of Belarus.

Natalya MIRONCHIK, Head of the Department of Research and Strategic Development of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, Candidate of Economic Sciences, identified in her report the most relevant components of sustainable development and open sources of sustainable growth in Belarus.

The concluding report of the plenary session was delivered by Valery GONCHAROV, Director of the Centre for System Analysis and Strategic Research of NAS of Belarus, Candidate of Economic Sciences, who presented strategic benchmarks in the system of perspective planning of economic development.

Summing up the results of the plenary session, Director of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Denis MUKHA noted the high relevance and deep content of the presented reports. He expressed his gratitude to all the participants and organisers of the plenary session for the rich programme and fruitful work, noted the high level of the event.

At the end of the event a resolution was adopted.
