On November 28, 2024, the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus held a meeting with a representative of the Minsk City Bar Association on the topic: “Liability for violation of legislation during the election campaign on the example of past years”

On November 28, 2024 at the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus in connection with the preparation for the presidential election of the Republic of Belarus in 2025, a meeting was held with a representative of the Minsk City Bar Association Galina TARNAUSKENE with the aim of legal education of employees and preventing them from violating the law.

Within the framework of the meeting some issues of administrative and criminal liability for violation of public order, public security and management order were discussed. Galina TARNAUSKENE considered in detail the most frequent types of offences during the election campaign, explained the degree of responsibility for violations under each of the articles, considered in detail the rights and duties of citizens, gave examples of offences and responsibility for them on the example of her practice.

In the course of the conversation with the staff, the issues of responsibility for distribution of extremist materials on the Internet and subscription to telegram channels recognised as extremist were also touched upon.

The staff expressed genuine interest in the topic voiced at the meeting. Employees of the Institute also actively asked questions on issues of interest, clarified the degree of responsibility for commenting on the Internet, viewing extremist photos and videos, and asked how to protect themselves from committing rash acts.
