On December 19, 2024, the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus jointly with the Institute of Sociology of NAS of Belarus held the Unified Information Day on the topic: “Belarus is a country of peace and harmony”. The event was attended by the administration and employees of the structural units of these institutes, as well as invited guests.
The round table was opened and moderated by the Deputy Director for Research and Innovation, Head of the Political Science Centre of the Institute of Sociology of NAS of Belarus, Candidate of Sociological Sciences, Associate Professor Nikolai SUKHOTSKY. He said that for the Belarusian people peace is the highest value and it is reflected in the text of the national anthem of the Republic of Belarus. He also emphasised that in 2025 our country will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War over the Nazi invaders.
Alexander VOYTEKHOVSKY, Senior Researcher of the Political Science Centre of the Institute of Sociology of NAS of Belarus, Candidate of Philosophy, Associate Professor, made a report “Public Accord is the Basis for Stable Development of Belarus”. He emphasised the strengths of the ethno-confessional policy of the Republic of Belarus, which has become a guarantee of civil peace and harmony in the society, as well as of the stable development of the Belarusian society over a long period of time. Reference was also made to the ethnic diversity of the population of the Republic of Belarus in the context of the successful preservation of the traditions of good-neighbourliness, to the hospitality of Belarus and to its peace-loving foreign policy. In this regard, he quoted the Head of State Alexander Grigoryevich LUKASHENKO:
“We are all different. Sometimes we are absolutely different. But we are one Belarusian people. By the right of the land on which we live together now and on which our children will live. And we will do everything for this”.
“The idea of national unity permeates our entire history. People who fled from religious wars, feuds and persecutions have found shelter here for centuries. And in the days of hardship they united with the local population, fought back the enemy, won and together built their Belarusian happiness. This is the key to understanding the code of life on our land - ours and yours”.
The report “The Republic of Belarus in Integration Associations and International Organisations” was delivered by Sergei KATSKO, Senior Researcher of the World Economy Centre of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus. He presented a retrospective analysis of Belarus’ participation in integration associations and international organisations, with a detailed analysis of modern integration processes within the framework of the Union State, EAEU and BRICS+.
Konstantin SNISARENKO, Researcher of the Political Science Centre of the Institute of Sociology of NAS of Belarus, also made a presentation entitled “Initiatives of the Republic of Belarus in the International Arena”. His report contained an analysis of the peculiarities of the geopolitical position of the Republic of Belarus, which carries not only certain threats due to its location at a very sensitive geopolitical crossroads between East and West, but also great opportunities due to the location of our country in the centre of trade and transit routes.
Stanislav YURETSKY, Director of the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of NAS of Belarus, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of NAS of Belarus, delivered the final report on the self-realisation of young scientists of NAS of Belarus in a peaceful and stable Republic of Belarus.
