On February 04, 2025 the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus hosted a meeting with the Great Patriotic War veterans, survivors of the Siege of Leningrad Maria YAGODNITSINA and Lyubov FADEEVA
On January 27, 1944 the encirclement of Leningrad was completely broken through, the blockade was completely lifted. Maria YAGODNITSINA, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, siege survivor, chairman of the Belarusian Union of Leningrad Siege Survivors, and Lyubov FATEEVA, a veteran of the war and siege survivor of Leningrad, came to share the joy of this holiday with the staff of the Institute of Economics.
Maria Davydovna showed a fragment of the movie “Chronicle of the blockade childhood”, showed a food card of 1942 and the very 125 grams of bread.
Maria Davydovna’s memoirs of the terrible days of the blockade, evacuation along the “Road of Life” and the joy of the long-awaited Victory left no one indifferent.
Lyubov Alekseevna shared her impressions of her recent trip to St. Petersburg, where a welcome reception and cultural program was organized for Leningrad siege survivors who came from different CIS and European countries. The honored guests were personally congratulated by the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
The guests presented the book “And we have enough of this unchildish sadness for 1000 years” to the library of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus.
After the event the staff had a long talk with Maria YAGODNITSINA and Lyubov FADEEVA on various topics.
