The staff of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus took part in a series of celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Soviet people’s victory in the Great Patriotic War
On May 6-9, the staff of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus took part in a series of solemn events dedicated to the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Soviet people’s victory in the Great Patriotic War.
On May 6-7, 2025 employees of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus participated in the International Research-to-Practice Conference “The Great Victory in the Name of Peace and Creation (on the 80th anniversary of the Soviet people’s victory in the Great Patriotic War)”, which was held in the Presidium of NAS of Belarus under the chairmanship of V.G. Gusakov.
The head of the Center of Innovation and Investment Policy at the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Elena PRESNYAKOVA, took part in the work of the sections. She spoke about outstanding scientists who served on the front lines and worked at this organization at various times, contributing both to the development of economic science in Belarus and to the victory in the Great Patriotic War. The report by Oleg DODONOV, leading researcher at the Department of Monitoring of Socio-Economic Development at the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, highlighted the participation of Belarusian scientists in the partisan movement during the Great Patriotic War. The speakers at the conference, together with Antonina TRIPUZOVA, head of the Sector of Legal Support for Socio-Economic Development at the Center of State Building and Law of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, discovered new milestones in the history of the Great Patriotic War and the invaluable contribution of the Academy’s scientists to the victory over fascism by visiting an exhibition organized during the conference.
On May 8, 2025, the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus hosted a thematic Research-to-Practice Round Table dedicated to Victory Day on the topic “We remember, we are proud!”.
The event was opened by Denis MUKHA, Director of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, who emphasized the importance of celebrating Victory Day in terms of preserving the historical memory of the feat of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War.
The audience was deeply impressed by the speech of Viktor RUMYANTSEV, the son of an employee of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, which conveyed all the pain and suffering of the Belarusian people from the horrors they experienced as a result of the Nazi occupation.
On behalf of the staff of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, Denis MUKHA, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, thanked both Viktor and his father for such a sincere and heartfelt speech.
The terrible story told by the child was partly supplemented by a scientific report by a guest participant in the event, Alexandra KUZNETSOVA-TIMONOVA, a leading researcher at the Center of Military History of Belarus, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor. In her report “The Liberated Territory of the BSSR: Autumn 1943 – Spring 1945,” Alexandra Vladimirovna acquainted those present with the main milestones in the liberation of the BSSR from the German-fascist invaders, the tremendous work carried out by the civilian population and the Red Army to restore the liberated territory of the BSSR, the invaluable assistance provided to the BSSR by the Union Republics in this process, the heroism of the civilian population who took part in the restoration work in this territory as a whole, and the rural population in particular. Denis MUKHA, Director of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, expressed his gratitude and thanked Alexandra Vladimirovna for her interesting report on behalf of the employees.
Equally significant and interesting was the report by Elena PRESNYAKOVA, Head of the Center of Innovation and Investment Policy at the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, on the topic “Economic Damage from the Great Patriotic War”. Elena Vladimirovna spoke about the thorough and complex methodological work carried out by her and the working group in cooperation with the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Belarus. In the report, along with interesting historical facts, the speaker revealed the methodology for calculating the economic damage caused by the fascist occupiers of the BSSR and explained the ultimate goal of this work. The report aroused particular interest among those present and made a strong impression on them, and on the other hand, as well as admiration and pride that the staff of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus are involved in such an important matter. It is of particular significance for the Republic of Belarus at the present stage, given the distortion of historical facts about the Great Patriotic War by unfriendly states and the damage caused by Nazi Germany.
During the round table, 2 reports were also made by employees of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus. Oleg DODONOV, leading researcher at the Department of Monitoring of Socio-Economic Development of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, in the report “The Immortal Platoon of Belarusian Scientists” told the story of 39 employees of NAS of Belarus who directly participated in combat operations during the Great Patriotic War, received military awards, and made a huge contribution to the development of Belarusian and world science in various fields.
The report by Vladislav KHOMICH, junior researcher at the Center of State Building and Law of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, on the topic “The Great Patriotic War through the Eyes of Cinema” took the senior and middle-aged colleagues present back to the documentary and feature films of the Golden Fund of domestic cinema, which highlight the milestones of the Great Patriotic War, and served as an important motivation for young employees to watch these films in order to gain a deeper understanding of the significance of the Soviet people’s victory over Nazi Germany.
At the conclusion of the thematic Research-to-Practice Round Table dedicated to Victory Day on the topic “We remember, we are proud!” Denis MUKHA, Director of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, thanked the participants of the event and expressed his confidence that its results would inspire those present to cherish peace in their homeland.
For the employees of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, May 8 ended late in the evening at the Minsk Arena sports complex, where the final match of the international tournament between the national hockey teams of Belarus and Russia, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, took place.
In this tournament, the national hockey team of the Republic of Belarus won the honorary trophy – the Cup, which is symbolic for the Republic as part of the USSR, which was the first to take up the fight on June 22, 1941.
Employees of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, Natalia KURBEKO and Elena TIKHONYUK, along with their families, also supported their beloved national hockey team at the country’s main ice arena.
On May 9, Institute’s employees took part in the most solemn events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The Deputy Director of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, Candidate of Economic Sciences Vitaly PILUI, took part in a ceremony of laying flowers at the Eternal Flame on Victory Square in Minsk.
Vitaly Nikolayevich took part in this event together with his children and the First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of NAS of Belarus, Academician of NAS of Belarus, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Sergey CHIZHIK.
Antonina TRIPUZOVA, Head of the Sector of Legal Support for Socio-Economic Development at the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, also took part in a ceremony of laying flowers at the Eternal Flame on Victory Square in Minsk.
Employees of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus also watched the military parade at the monument “Minsk - Hero City”, which was opened by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander LUKASHENKO.
Being in close proximity to the main event of the Great Victory Day celebrations, the following words spoken by the Head of State were particularly poignant: “This Victory, today’s Victory, which is celebrated by the Republic of Belarus, brotherly Russia, our friends and allies, all people of good will, is great and well-deserved. This is the day of the Great Victory” (A.G. Lukashenko). And it is this Victory that we must cherish ourselves and bequeath to our descendants!
A series of solemn events dedicated to the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, in which the staff of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus took part and which they organized, ended on May 9 at the monument “Minsk - Hero City” with a festive salute.
