On June 5-6, 2025, scientists from the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus took part in the IV International Research-to-Practice Conference dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the IRES RAS, St. Petersburg, Russian Federation

On June 5-6, 2025, scientists from the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus took part in the IV International Research-to-Practice Conference “Development of the Theory and Mechanisms for Improving the Sustainability, Innovativeness and Competitiveness of Regional Economies’ Spatial Development” (SICSEDR-25), dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the IRES RAS (St. Petersburg, Russia). The event was organized by the Institute for Regional Economic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IRES RAS). Partners and co-organizers of the conference: Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, Vitebsk State Technological University of the Republic of Belarus.

The plenary session of the conference on June 5, 2025 was opened by Director of the IRES RAS, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Alexey SHMATKO. The conference participants were welcomed by the Director of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus Denis MUKHA, who emphasized the importance of the conference topic in the context of forming a spatial development strategy, as well as creating attractive living conditions in various types of territories.

The speakers at the plenary session were the Special Representative of the Governor of St. Petersburg on Economic Development, Candidate of Economic Sciences Anatoly KOTOV; the Head of the Research Department of the IRES RAS, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Sergei KUZNETSOV; Vice-Rector for Research at the Vitebsk State Technological University, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Elena VANKEVICH; Director of the Institute of Economic Problems named after G.P. Luzin of the Kola Science Center of RAS, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Sergei FEDOSEEV; Director of the Institute of Economics of the Ural Branch of RAS, Doctor of Economic Sciences Yulia LAVRIKOVA; Director of the Institute of Design and Spatial Arts of Kazan Federal University, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Karina NABIULLINA; Chief Researcher of the IRES RAS, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Margarita ZAMYATINA, etc.

During the plenary session, the Head of the Sector of Social and Consumer Services, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Elena MILASHEVICH presented a collection of scientific papers “Bulletin of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus”, and also disclosed information about the International research-to-practice conference “Strategy for the Development of Belarusian Economy: Challenges, Tools and Prospects” to be held in November 2025 at the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus.

Scientists from the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus took an active part in the work of Section No. 1 “Scientific and technological development and innovation in the national economic space”. The Head of the Center of Innovation and Investment policy Elena PRESNYAKOVA made a report on “Assessment of the parameters’ achievement of sustainable development goal 9 “Industrialization, innovation and infrastructure” and its localization in the regional planning system”.

Head of the Sector of Social and Consumer Services, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Elena MILASHEVICH presented a report on “Development of Health Resort Services in Belarus in the Context of New Geopolitical Realities” and provided interested parties with the necessary information on the possibility of undergoing treatment and health improvement in the Republic of Belarus.

On June 6, employees took part in the work of Section No. 2 “Strategic Priorities of Spatial Development of Regions’ and Municipalities’ Economy”. Prospects for the implementation of applied research by the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus commissioned by business entities were discussed with colleagues from the Russian Federation. An agreement was reached to inform each other about the need for a more detailed discussion of individual aspects of deepening cooperation and providing mutual support.
