On July 4-24, 2025, employees of the Institute of Economics took part in the Seminar on the SCO Digital Economy (Beijing)
On July 4-24, 2025, employees of the Institute of Economics Tatyana VERTINSKAYA and Daria AVAEVA took part in the Seminar on the SCO Digital Economy (Beijing), organized by the Center for International Cooperation of the National Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic of China with the support of the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China.
Over the course of 3 weeks, experts from Belarus, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan studied China’s experience in the field of digital development, got acquainted with the country’s main achievements in high-tech sectors of the economy, and also exchanged experiences and discussed various areas of SCO development.
Lectures were held within the framework of the following thematic blocks:
experience of political and state building in the PRC;
financial system of China and financing of knowledge-intensive enterprises;
formation and development of a common digital space, current problems of digital global governance;
development of the industrial Internet of Things, application of artificial intelligence in various sectors of the economy, creation of data processing centers, intelligent ecosystems;
digital transformation of public administration, improvement of e-government technologies;
training of personnel for industry and other relevant topics.
The SCO Digital Economy Forum, held on July 11, 2025 in Tianjin, aroused great interest among the participants. The forum was attended by more than 1,500 guests – representatives of government bodies, enterprises, universities, and think tanks of the SCO member states. The forum discussed issues of industrial development based on digital integration, data management, and the creation of digital infrastructure, as well as training personnel for the digital economy.
During the seminar, the participants visited the international exhibition Supply Chain Expo; Lenovo Future Center; SIASUN Robot & Automation Co., Ltd.; the key laboratory of the China First Institute of Railway Survey and Design; Changba International Port in Xi’an; UISEE Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd., which is engaged in the creation of unmanned vehicles, and other organizations.
At the closing ceremony of the seminar, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Center of World Economy Tatyana VERTINSKAYA delivered a report, summing up the results of the seminar and noting the need to consolidate the efforts of the SCO member states in solving the problems of digital development.
At the end of the closing ceremony, the participants were awarded certificates for successful completion of training seminar.
