On September 25, 2025, the Institute of Economics hosted a roundtable discussion titled “SCO and BRICS Countries as a New Vector of Foreign Economic Policy and a Platform for Strengthening Multilateral Economic Cooperation of the Republic of Belarus in the Global Economy”. The discussion was organized by the Center of World Economy at the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus and included representatives from the Belarusian State Economic University, the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Research, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.

Alexander GOTOVSKY, Deputy Director of the Institute of Economics, Candidate of Economic Sciences, delivered a welcoming speech, highlighting the relevance of the topic.

The roundtable discussion was opened by Marina SHEVELEVA, Adviser at the Department of China and Asia-Pacific Cooperation of the General Directorate for Asia and Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, who made a report titled “Participation of the Republic of Belarus in the Activities of the SCO and BRICS in the Context of Fulfilling National Interests”.

Tatyana VERTINSKAYA, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Center of World Economy, presented a report on the topic “Opportunities and Prospects for the Republic of Belarus in Multilateral Economic Cooperation with the SCO Member States”.

Galina TURBAN, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the International Business Department at the Belarusian State Economic University, delivered a report on “The Dynamics of China’s Foreign Trade during the Establishment of the SCO”.

Irina RUSAK, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, Analyst at the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Research, presented a report on “The Experience of the SCO Consortium of Economic Analytical Centers”.

Alexander LEONOVICH, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor at the Department of International Business at the Belarusian State Economic University, made a report on “Trends of the Global Military Industry Development (Russia, Belarus, China)”.

Daria AVAEVA, Researcher at the Sector of Digital Economy Transformation, Center of Investment and Innovation Policy, Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus, with a presentation on “Features and Current Trends of Digital Economy Legal Regulation in China”.

Sergey KOTSKO, Senior Researcher at the Sector of Global Economy and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries, Center of World Economy, Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus, with a presentation on “BRICS – A New Platform for Multilateral Economic Cooperation”.

The topics of the reports and the issues raised by the speakers generated keen interest and lively discussion among the roundtable participants.
