On October 7, 2025, a meeting with a delegation from the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences was held at the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus.

The delegation from the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences was represented by: the head of the delegation – NIAN Meng, Head of the Research Department of the Shanghai Institute, Director of the Department of Urban-Rural Relations, Researcher at the Institute of Rural Development Research of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; ZHANG Peng, Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the Shanghai Institute, Deputy Head of the Yearbook Department of the Office of China’s Local Chronicles, National Archives of Local Chronicles; LI Ruisi, Senior Researcher at the Department of Central Asian and Caucasian Studies, Institute of Russia, East Europe and Central Asia, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; XU Jing, Head of the Planning and Cooperation Department of the Shanghai Institute, Junior Researcher at Shanghai University; SUN Zhu Zhu, Head of the Shanghai Institute’s Research Department, Junior Researcher at the Institute of Philosophy of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. The delegation was accompanied by two representatives of the Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Belarus.

The aim of the Chinese delegation’s visit was to discuss prospects for scientific cooperation with the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus. The guests briefed the Belarusian colleagues on the history and activities of the Shanghai Institute within the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, its structure and the activities of its departments, the role of the Shanghai Institute in implementing Chinese state policy, and the level of its scientific research.

The Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus was represented at the meeting by Deputy Director Andrei PILIUTIK, Deputy Director for Research Alexander GOTOVSKY, Academic Secretary Tatyana TETERINETS, Head of the Center for Innovation and Investment Policy Elena PRESNYAKOVA, and Leading Researcher at the Belarusian-Chinese Analytical Center for Development Oleg DODONOV. They briefed honorable guests on the Institute’s history, functions, structure, research areas, publishing activities, the activities of the Belarusian-Chinese Analytical Center for Development, and its efforts in training highly qualified scientific personnel.

During the discussion of scientific cooperation prospects, particular emphasis was placed on interaction in industrial policy and the social sphere, the development of mobility among researchers for the purpose of exchanging experience and improving skills, and the holding of joint scientific events in various formats.

At the end of the meeting, the parties acknowledged the useful nature of the dialogue initiated, expressed hope for further cooperation, and exchanged scientific publications. The host country invited Chinese colleagues to participate in the annual International Research-to-Practice Conference held on November 13-14, 2025, by the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus. Chinese colleagues invited them to visit Shanghai during international events within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
