On October 13, 2025, a roundtable discussion entitled “Improving State Regulation of Transport Services in the Context of Structural Changes in the Economy” was held at the Institute of Economics. It was organized by the Sector of Service Economy of the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus and attended by representatives from the Belarusian National Technical University and the Belarusian State University of Transport.

Natalia MOROZOVA, Head of the Department of Service Economy, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, opened the roundtable. She emphasized the relevance of this event, noting that transport, as a cross-platform service, is a catalyst and multiplier for many economic activities (trade, tourism, healthcare, etc.). Efficient transport reduces costs, expands markets, increases population mobility, and improves quality of life. The event’s goal is not only to identify problems but also to develop specific proposals to ensure that the transport industry becomes an active driver of economic restructuring.

Denis MUKHA, Director of the Institute of Economics, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, delivered a welcoming speech. He emphasized the exceptional relevance of the transport industry for ensuring the functioning of the economy in the current environment, characterized by rapidly changing trade and economic ties, conditions for promoting Belarusian goods to foreign markets, and intensified global competition. The topics of the presentations announced by the roundtable participants covered the most topical issues: the development of logistics systems, digitalization trends, aspects of economic security, the challenges of multimodal freight transportation, and the need to improve passenger transportation to prevent gaps in the standard of living and quality of life across the country’s regions. Addressing these challenges is essential for the country’s successful development in accordance with established priorities in the near future.

Professor Mikhail ZHUDRO, Doctor of Economic Sciences, presented a report on “Development Directions for Logistics Systems in Industry and Transport in the Republic of Belarus in the Context of Digital Transformation”. He emphasized that digitalization is a criterion for the effectiveness of the country’s entire transport and logistics system.

Natalia KEKISH, Candidate of Engineering Sciences, Associate Professor, presented a report on “Current Directions for the Development of State Regulation in Multimodal Container Transportation”. The report focused on finding solutions that will allow Belarus to gain a stronger position in international logistics chains.

Sergei SKIRKOVSKY, Candidate of Engineering Sciences, made a report on “Innovative Tariff Systems and Fare Payment Mechanisms in Urban Public Transport: Comprehensive Analysis and Prospects”. He presented modern approaches to pricing that will make public transport more attractive to passengers.

Senior Lecturer Marina KILOCHITSKAYA concluded the session with a report on “State Regulation of Public Rail and Road Transport Services in the Context of Integrated Public Transport Services”. The speaker emphasized the need to create an integrated transport system accessible to every citizen.

The event continued with a panel discussion, where participants exchanged opinions on issues and possible development paths for the Belarusian transport system.
