On October 17, 2025, the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus held a Unified Information Day on the topic “The Role of Family Values in Modern Society”.

Denis MUKHA, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, Director of the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus, addressed the staff and highlighted the importance and relevance of the topic raised, emphasizing the commitment of the Belarusian people to traditional family values. Particular attention was paid to the significance of the topic for the younger generation.

Anastasia BOBROVA, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Center of Human Development and Demography at the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus, presented a report on “The Role of Family Values in Modern Society”. She explored the importance of family institution from the perspective of the Belarusian state’s ideology and outlined key trends and challenges in its development using analytics on birth rates, infant mortality, and the use of reproductive technologies in various countries. She analyzed and assessed factors reflecting demographic trends across regions (districts) of the Republic of Belarus, including challenges in fostering demographic stability. Particular emphasis was placed on the age and sex structure and population change, taking into account aging indices, family structure typologies, and reproductive potential. She also examined challenges and positive trends in changing family policy in the Republic of Belarus, outlining measures for its further improvement.

Anastasia BOBROVA’s presentation generated considerable interest among the Institute’s staff, and among young people in particular. During a lively discussion of the issues raised by the speaker, comprehensive answers were given to questions from Natalia MOROZOVA, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Service Economy at the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus, regarding measures to motivate young people to create families and have children. Evgeny FEDOROV, Candidate of Engineering Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Sector of Production and Distribution Services at the Department of Service Economy at the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus, discussed the use of tools to unite families and the values that should be shaped within them.

In his closing remarks, Denis MUKHA, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, Director of the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus, expressed gratitude to the speaker and emphasized the importance of preserving traditional family values.
