On November 14, 2025, a Section entitled “The State and Development of the Service Sector” was held as part of the conference “Strategy for the Development of the Belarusian Economy: Challenges, Tools, and Prospects” organized by the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus.
The main goal was to discuss current issues related to improving mechanisms for state regulation of the service sector, taking into account the challenges and prospects for their development. During the conference, participants were presented with a number of research papers, which served as the basis for a lively scientific discussion.
The Section was moderated by Natalia MOROZOVA, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Service Sector Economy at the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus.
Denis MUKHA, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, Director of the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus, delivered a welcoming speech.
Vitaly PILUI, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Deputy Director of the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus, presented a report on “Trends in the Development of the Service Sector in the Context of Digital Transformation”.
Tatyana VEREZUBOVA, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, Head of the Finance Department at the Belarusian State Economic University, presented a comprehensive analysis of insurance sector development.
Representatives of the Institute for Regional Economic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (St. Petersburg) participated in the section. Anna LEONTYEVA, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, Senior Researcher at the Laboratory for Comprehensive Research of Social, Ecological, and Economic Development, presented a report entitled “Development Prospects of the Service Sector within the Framework of a Single Labor Market Formation in the Union State”, and Evgeniya NAZAROVA, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Deputy Director of the Institute for Regional Economic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Elena YANKEVICH, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor at the Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov, discussed tourism development in the report entitled “The Market Potential of the EAEU Countries in the Context of Sustainable Tourism Development”.
The scientific meeting focused on the educational services market, with several speakers raising topical issues for discussion in their reports.
Inna FURSEVICH, Associate Professor at the Belarusian National Technical University, Candidate of Economic Sciences, addressed current issues of performance assessment in her report entitled “Assessing the Performance of Academic Staff in Belarusian Higher Education in the Context of Digitalization”.
Natalia PAVLOVA, Senior Lecturer at the Republican Institute of Higher Education, proposed areas for improving government regulation of higher education services in Belarus based on international experience.
The event brought together academics, practitioners, and specialists from various service sectors to discuss economic development in the context of transforming global markets, the platform economy, trade, logistics, tourism, and education.
The session helped identify challenges in the service sector and develop proposals for overcoming them.
