On June 30 – July 1, 2026, the International Scientific Conference “Economic Science: Current State and Prospects” was held, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus
On June 30, 2026, the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus held a ceremonial meeting dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus. Opening the event, Vasily HURSKY, Chief Scientific Secretary of the NAS of Belarus, read a welcoming address from Vladimir KARANIK, Chairman of the Presidium. He noted that the Institute of Economics occupies a central place in the system of scientific support for the country’s socio-economic development. The research of the Institute’s scientists underpins state strategies, programs, plans, and concepts for socio-economic development, comprehensive forecasts of scientific and technological progress, and economic legislation. They serve as a navigator for relevant government bodies in an era of global instability.
The Chairman of the Presidium also emphasized that the institution’s expertise is in demand across the entire public administration system – from academic discussions to the practical implementation of economic policy at the level of industries, regions, and national programs.
On behalf of Vladimir KARANIK, Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus, the staff of the State Scientific Institution “Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus” was awarded a Certificate of Honor for its significant contribution to the development of economic science, the preservation and development of scientific schools, and the successful implementation of research results in practice, as well as in connection with the 95th anniversary of its founding.
Vasily HURSKY, Chief Scientific Secretary of the NAS of Belarus, delivered a report in which he noted that the Institute of Economics, part of the Academy of Sciences, has undergone a complex process and made a significant contribution to the development of the country. Moreover, throughout its work, economists have acted not as bystanders, but as active participants in the formation and development of the Belarusian economic model, understanding that emerging challenges and threats are creating new scientific problems that require solutions, including scientific ones. This means that the Institute of Economics is in demand by society today and will be in demand in the future. By generating and disseminating new economic knowledge, the Institute, within its competence, serves the sustainable development and strengthening of Belarusian economic security.
In turn, Denis MUKHA, Director of the Institute, emphasized that the Institute of Economics is an organization that actively conducts scientific research, creating dozens of intellectual property objects. It is an organization that closely interacts with government agencies, actively collaborates with higher education and carries out educational activities, implements the results of its work in practice and widely presents them to the public, and also develops fruitful international cooperation.

During the ceremonial meeting, Institute employees were awarded Certificates of Honor and Letters of Gratitude.
An exhibition of books by Institute scholars was organized with the assistance of the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the NAS of Belarus. Musical accompaniment was provided by the Musical Capella of the Center for Research of Belarusian Culture, Language, and Literature of the NAS of Belarus, led by conductor Zhanna FILIPPOVICH, and the Folk Violin Ensemble of the Belarusian National Technical University’s Department of Culture, led by Olga KRIVOKHIZHA.
On July 1, 2026, the International Scientific Conference “Economic Science: Current State and Prospects” continued its work in 7 areas: “Innovation and Investment Policy”, “Global Economy and International Economic Relations”, “Macroeconomic and Financial Policy”, “Human Development and Demography”," “Economic Growth”, “Service Economy”, and “Legal Regulation of the Economy”. A collection of conference proceedings was published.
