Employees of the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus participated in the 13th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia

On June 25, 2026, Denis MUKHA, Director of the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor; Vitaly PILUI, Deputy Director for Research and Innovation, Candidate of Economic Sciences; and Anna POPKOVA, Head of the Department of Monitoring Socioeconomic Development, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, participated in the section “Regional Development: Assessing Performance, Achieving Priorities and Goals, and Promoting the Growth of Economic Potential” as part of the 13th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia. The section was held in Zhodino at the premises of BELAZ OJSC, the managing company of BELAZ-HOLDING.

The business program included 10 thematic sections at various venues in the Minsk Region. Denis MUKHA moderated the section “Regional Development: Assessing Performance, Achieving Priorities and Goals, and Promoting the Growth of Economic Potential”.

Representatives of regulatory bodies from Belarus and Russia, ministries and agencies, experts, and business representatives took part in the section. Participants discussed issues of assessing regional development results, achieving priority goals, and promoting the growth of the Union State’s economic potential.

Before the section began, Institute’s staff, along with other forum participants, visited the Mound of Glory memorial complex, where a flower-laying ceremony was held in memory of the liberating soldiers.

The commemorative event was timed to coincide with the 82nd anniversary of Belarus’s liberation from Nazi invaders and Belarus’s Independence Day.

“By laying flowers at the Mound of Glory memorial, we pay tribute to all who fought for freedom and independence. Our sacred duty is to preserve this memory and pass it on to the youth. It is on such spiritual bonds that our unity is built”, the memorial rally noted.

The program also included a visit to the production facilities of BELAZ OJSC, the flagship of Belarusian heavy engineering and a world-renowned manufacturer of mining equipment. Forum participants were able to learn about the company’s modern technological solutions and discuss prospects for further industrial cooperation within the Union State.

Following the forum, the signing of new contracts and the identification of specific steps to deepen integration cooperation are expected.
