On July 13, 2026, BSEU students visited the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus

On July 13, 2026, as part of the Joint Action Plan for the Implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation and Interaction for 2025-2026 between the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus, the Belarusian State Economic University (BSEU), and organizations representing the real sector of the economy, introductory classes were held for BSEU students majoring in “Economics and Business Process Management in Food Systems”.

The event was opened by Denis MUKHA, Director of the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor.

He emphasized that the on-site format of the classes provides students with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in a real scientific environment. He noted that this practice not only strengthens the connection between fundamental science and higher education but also contributes to the training of specialists capable of solving applied economic problems.

To familiarize students with key elements of scientific research, a film dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus was shown. It demonstrated the scientific institution’s contribution to the development of economic science in Belarus.

Marina LEBEDEVICH, Chair of the Council of Young Scientists, delivered a report on “Youth Policy of the NAS of Belarus: Opportunities for Professional Development”.

She noted that young scientists under 35 account for approximately 30% of the NAS of Belarus’s workforce. Marina LEBEDEVICH detailed current government support measures, including scholarships from the President of the Republic of Belarus, scholarships for graduate students and young scientists, and various research competitions for young scientists. Particular attention was paid to the annual Festival of Science, which is held with the active participation of young scientists, and the cultural events organized by the Council of Young Scientists. Marina LEBEDEVICH also invited students to participate in scientific events planned for the current year.

Nadezhda BATOVA, Head of the Sector for Environmental and Economic Development, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, presented on the topic “Greening the Economy as a New Driver for Sustainable Development in Belarus through 2050”.

She focused on the organizational aspects of the “green” transition, particularly the evolution of the secondary resource market. She noted that the current emphasis is shifting toward quality of recycling and minimizing the carbon footprint, and that in the future, secondary raw materials will become an integral part of the national industrial strategy. Specific figures were cited: the recycling rate for wastepaper in Belarus reaches 90%, while the situation with plastic is more complex – due to the lack of a well-established waste separation system, polymer recycling is still fraught with significant difficulties.

Vitaly PILUI, Deputy Director for Research and Innovation, Candidate of Economic Sciences, thanked the speakers for their insightful presentations and expressed hope that the event will allow BSEU students to objectively evaluate the contribution of scientific research to economic development.
