On July 15, 2026, employees of the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus participated in the Belarus–Russia roundtable discussion “Family Values and Modern Society: Traditions, Trends, and Prospects”

On July 15, 2026, the Belarus-Russia roundtable discussion “Family Values and Modern Society: Traditions, Trends, and Prospects” was held at the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus. Nikolai MYSLIVETS, Director of the Institute of Sociology of the NAS of Belarus, and Vyacheslav DANILOVICH, Academician–Secretary of the Department of Humanities and Arts of the NAS of Belarus, addressed the roundtable participants with welcoming remarks.

Anastasia BOBROVA, Head of the Center for Human Development and Demography of the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus, took part in the roundtable discussion with a report entitled “Family Policy as the Basis of Demographic Security”. She emphasized the strategic importance of the demographic dimension of state policy and noted the government systematic efforts to support young and large families. The speaker placed particular emphasis on the impact of citizens’ physical and reproductive health on the country’s demographic security. She illustrated successful examples of the positive impact of social and economic support measures on demographic dynamics. She also devoted special attention to the value-based component of the population’s reproductive choices.

On behalf of the Belarusian side, Yulia KOCHURKO, Head of the Department of Scientific, Organizational, and Legal Work at the NAS of Belarus, presented a report titled “The Role of the Belarusian Women’s Union of the NAS of Belarus in Strengthening the Institution of the Family”. Natalia SOSNOVSKAYA, Scientific Secretary of the Institute of Sociology at the NAS of Belarus, presented a report titled “The Value Foundations of Parenthood in Modern Society”.

The following representatives from the Russian Federation took part in the roundtable:

Sergei SUDYIN, Head of the Department of General Sociology and Social Work at the Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod;

Galina SMIRNOVA, Director of the Independent Nonprofit Organization “Dialogue”;

Natalia BEZZUBOVA, Conflictologist, Coordinator of Social Projects, and Lecturer in Educational Programs at the Independent Nonprofit Organization “Dialogue”;

Olga FOLMAN, Psychologist, Methodologist, and Lecturer in Educational Programs at the Independent Nonprofit Organization “Dialogue”;

Sergei SENTYURIN, Coordinator of Social Projects at the Independent Nonprofit Organization “Dialogue”.

The event concluded with a lively discussion about the challenges and prospects for preserving family values.
