On June 22,
2022, Belarus celebrates the day of the nationwide memory of the victims of the
Great Patriotic War and the genocide of the Belarusian people.
On the
fronts of the Great Patriotic War more than 1.3 million Belarusians and natives
of Belarus fought. The country lost every third inhabitant, the memory of them
will live forever.
Belarusians
are one of the most affected nations. During the war 209 cities and district
centers, more than 9000 villages were destroyed and burned. Human losses
amounted to 2,4 million people.
Belarus
remembers all the heroes and innocent victims of the war.
President
of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko sent an appeal to compatriots.
«Today we
recall the mournful date. Eighty one year ago, a warm, sunny Sunday morning on
June 22 for millions of Soviet citizens, in an instant, turned out to be
horrors of bombing, merciless extermination of civilians and endless pain.
Belarus
remembers all the heroes and innocent victims of that war. It also remembers
the names of those who collaborated with military criminals and participated in
bloody reprisals with the population.
We,
Belarusians, bow our heads before the sacred feat of the winners who freed the
world from Nazism, and rise our voice in defense of historical truth and
justice», the Head of State noted.
On the day
of the nationwide memory of the victims of the Great Patriotic War and the
genocide of the Belarusian people commemorative events are held throughout the
country, including the citywide ceremony of laying flowers to the Victory Monument.
The
representative of the Institute of Economics honored the memory of those killed
in the Great Patriotic War and laid flowers to the eternal fire at the Victory
Monument.
On this day
a new cultural and patriotic action «Calendar «Memory» starts in the capital.
From June 22 to July 3, a calendar will be established, telling about the
events of the war.

On June 22 the
updated project «Digital Star» will be presented, where a new map will appear
dedicated to the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic
War.
The Victory
train project is carried out for the second time. It is a unique interactive
exposition based on the effect of the presence, which is devoted to the feat of
the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War and was created on the basis
of wagons of the mobile exhibition and lecture complex.
The train
has already visited Orsha, Polotsk, Vitebsk, Krichev, Zhlobin, Osipovichi,
Baranovichi and Luninez, Pinsk, Brest. The «Victory Train» route will end in
Minsk. It will arrive on the eve of Independence Day on July 2 and will work
until July 4, 2022.
