On the eve of the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus a representative of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus took part in the opening ceremony of the National Memorial Sign and laying flowers at it, and on July 4, the Institute’s employees honored an eyewitness of the Liberation of Minsk from Nazi invaders.
On the eve of the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus, a memorial sign «Living Memory of Grateful Generations» was opened in Victory Park in Minsk. It is dedicated to the defenders of the Fatherland, who won the Great Victory at the cost of their own lives.
The ceremony was attended by the main inspirer and implementer of the project, Director of the Charitable Foundation Aleksey TALAY, project sculptor Vladimir SLOBODCHIKOV, chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Vladimir KUKHAREV, heads of government bodies, representatives of the Minsk City Executive Committee, organizations and enterprises of the city, public organizations, creative associations and youth unions.
The image of the monument is built on the dynamics of «frozen time». The memorial sign depicts a bronze tree ‑ a symbol of life, hope and longevity, which has grown into a petrified triangle letter from the front. This element of the sculptural composition embodies a tribute to the past.
The peculiarity of the memorial sign is the inclusion of Soviet coins in its alloy, which were brought by veterans, their children and grandchildren to the Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War. Part of the alloy is poured into a tree trunk, and the other part is poured into ingots for monuments in Moscow and Brest.
Such symbolic participation of more than 100 000 families unites future generations with our contemporaries and heroic ancestors. Head of State Alexander LUKASHENKO also took part in this action, handing over Soviet coins for the metal alloy of the memorial sign from his family.
The Head of the Section of the Center of State Building and Law, Antonina TRIPUZOVA, also made a financial contribution to the common cause, took part in the opening ceremony of the Memorial Sign and laid flowers at it.
