On September 30, 2022, a round table «Regional aspects of socio-demographic and economic development of the Republic of Belarus» was held at the Vitebsk State Technological University. The event was organized by VSTU together with the Center of Human Development and Demography of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus in the format of engaged discussion and dialogue between the scientific community and representatives of government and business.

Representatives of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, the Vitebsk Regional Union of Employers, the NGO «Associations of Employers and Entrepreneurs» of the Vitebsk Region, representatives of the business community of the Vitebsk Region, specialists from the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, VGTU, VSU named after P. Masherov, PSU named after Euphrosyne of Polotsk.

The participants were presented with the results of a study of directions and prospects for ensuring the coordination of education and training system with the needs of the labor market, the formation of effective integration structures in the regional economy, etc.

The Head of the Center of Human Development and Demography of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, candidate of economics, associate professor Anastasia BOBROVA spoke on the topic «Modern demographic barriers to economic growth». She outlined the main trends in the demographic development of the Republic of Belarus, showed the difficulties experienced by our economy under the influence of demographic challenges (decrease in the population, especially under working age, population aging, migration, urbanization).
