On October 18-19, 2022, the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus hosted the International Research-to-Practice Conference «Strategy for the Development of the Belarusian Economy: Challenges, Implementation Tools, and Prospects»
On October
18, 2022, a plenary session of the annual International Research-to-Practice
Conference «Strategy for the Development of the Belarusian Economy: Challenges,
Implementation Tools, and Prospects» was held, organized by the Institute of
Economics of NAS of Belarus with the aim of an expert discussion of priority
areas for the development of the national economy.
The plenary
session was attended by representatives of domestic and foreign leading
research organizations, institutions of higher education, republican government
bodies, the media, and business circles.
The conference
was opened by the Director of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus,
Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Denis MUKHA. In his
introduction, he noted the relevance of holding such events, the high
importance of scientific integration of researchers from different countries,
announced the program for holding plenary and breakout sessions, as well as the
rules of work.
On behalf
of the Chairman of the Presidium of NAS of Belarus, Academician of NAS of
Belarus, Honored Scientist of the Republic of Belarus, Doctor of Economic
Sciences, Professor, Chief Scientific Secretary of the National Academy of
Sciences, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Vasily HURSKY
delivered a welcoming speech.
Welcoming
words to the conference participants were voiced by Academician-Secretary of
the Department of Humanities and Arts of NAS of Belarus, Academician of NAS of
Belarus, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Alexander KOVALENIA.
During the
plenary session 9 scientific reports on the issues of strategic development of
the national economy and foreign economic integration of Belarus and Russia
were heard. The speech of the Chief Scientific Secretary of NAS, Doctor of
Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Vasily HURSKY was devoted to the problem
of achieving and maintaining the sustainability of the socio-economic model of
Belarus as the basis of national economic security. First Deputy Chairman of
the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus,
Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Andrey KOSOVSKY reflected
the main priorities of the scientific, technical and innovative development of
Belarus at the present stage. Director of the Institute of System Researches in
Agro-industrial Complex of NAS of Belarus, Corresponding Member of the National
Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Andrey
PILIPUK made a scientific report on the topic «Food with high added value:
scientific approaches and practical methods of evaluation». Director of the
Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, Candidate of Economic Sciences,
Associate Professor Denis MUKHA in his speech revealed the strategic directions
for the development of the economy of the Republic of Belarus. Head of the
Department for Research and Strategic Development of the National Bank of the
Republic of Belarus, Candidate of Economic Sciences Natalia MIRONCHIK in her
report focused on the mechanisms for developing the financial market from the
standpoint of strengthening economic security and ensuring sustainable economic
growth of the Republic of Belarus.
Particular
attention was paid to the issues of foreign economic cooperation between
Belarus and Russia. Director of the Institute of Economic Forecasting of the
Russian Academy of Sciences, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of
Sciences, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Alexander SHIROV paid attention
to this issue in his speech in the context of foreign economic restrictions.
The discussion was continued by the Head of the Center of Post-Soviet Studies
of the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of
Economic Sciences, Professor Leonid VARDOMSKY.
In order to
ensure a broad expert discussion of the tasks of the socio-economic development
of Belarus and maintain a high level of international scientific cooperation,
the conference was broadcast in real time on the Internet services YouTube,
ZOOM. In the teleconference mode, reports were made by the Director of the
Institute of International Economics and Finance of the All-Russian Academy of
Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian
Federation, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Alexander
KNOBEL on the topic «Trends of Trade and Economic Cooperation of Russia and
Belarus: new challenges and prospects» and Director of the Institute of
Economics of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of
Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Yulia LAVRIKOVA on the topic «Assessment
of industrial and technological interaction between Russia and Belarus: a
macro-regional aspect».
Summing up
the plenary session, Director of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus,
Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Denis MUKHA noted the high
relevance and comprehensiveness of the presented reports. He expressed
gratitude to all participants and organizers of the plenary meeting for the varied
program and fruitful work, a high level of event.
