On June 30,
the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus held a round table «Economy of the
Republic of Belarus: Achievements and Prospects» as part of the Economics Week.
The event took place in the meeting room of the Presidium of NAS of Belarus.
The round table was moderated by Denis MUKHA, Director of the Institute of
Economics, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor.
Vladimir
GUSAKOV, Chairman of the Presidium of NAS of Belarus, Honored Scientist, Doctor
of Economic Sciences, Professor, delivered a welcoming speech and emphasized
the importance of economic science in the functioning and development of
society.

GUSAKOV noted in his speech «... Today, knowledge and understanding of the
subject, as well as methods of understanding the economic sphere of public
relations are a necessary condition for the successful functioning of economic
systems... We develop and improve economic science, at the same time the
economy develops and improves each of us».
The round
table was attended by representatives of NAS of Belarus, the Ministry of
Economy of the Republic of Belarus, the State Committee for Science and
Technology, the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, the Research
Institute of Labor of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the
Republic of Belarus, educational institutions. They included:

As part of
the round table, scientific reports were presented. Sergey SOLODOVNIKOV, Head
of the Department of Economics and Law of the Belarusian National Technical
University, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, introduced the participants
to the results of preparation and publication by scientists of the Institute
together with representatives of the Higher School of the Textbook «Modern
Political Economy», which is used in a number of higher education institutions of
the Republic of Belarus for teaching students of non-economic qualification. He
noted that at present, work has begun to prepare the textbook «The Latest
Political Economy» for students of economic qualification.

BAYNEV, Head of the Research Laboratory of Comprehensive Studies of the
Socio-Economic Development Problems of the Belarusian State University, Doctor
of Economic Sciences, Professor, together with Tatyana GORAEVA, Head of the
Department of Economic Security of the Belarusian State University, Candidate
of Economic Sciences, presented the results of joint research on the topic «Resource-Utility
Approach to the Study of Socio-Economic Systems as the Theoretical Basis of their
Safe Development».
After
summing up, the round table participants exchanged opinions and agreed on
further cooperation in conducting joint research in the field of selected
scientific areas.
