On June 9,
2022, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Belarus together with the House
of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus held a
discussion round table «Geopolitics and Security in the New World» at the site
of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of
Belarus.
The meeting
was attended by representatives of the parliamentary and diplomatic bodies,
republican government bodies, academia, the expert community, political parties
and public associations of Belarus. The event was also attended by Director of
the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus Vasili HURSKY and employees of the

TRIPUZOVA.
The main
speaker of the event was MGIMO professor, member of the Presidium of the
Council on Foreign and Defense Policy of Russia, retired intelligence colonel
Andrey BEZRUKOV.
The meeting
was moderated by the Chairman of the Standing Committee on International
Affairs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly Andrey
SAVINYKH.
The
discussion at the round table focused on such issues as the specific aspects of
the confrontation between centers of power in the XXI century, the global split
and the formation of macroregions, the conflict of civilizations, as well as
the role of political and economic elites in these processes.
Speaker Andrey BEZRUKOV emphasized that the world is going through three global crises: an economic one, characterized by a period of uncertain growth, a dead end of the «liberal model» and competition between trading blocs; political, which is characterized by the growth of the «non-Atlantic» world, the weakening of global systems, the change in military potentials and the lack of leadership; social, characterized by the crisis of the «welfare state», the exacerbation of inequality, the presence of global migration and the performance of individuals against the state.
