On July 4, 2022, employees of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus met native citizen Z.N. YURKEVICH, born in 1937, an eyewitness of the occupation and liberation of the city from enemy invaders on July 3, 1944, as well as the post-war restoration of our capital.

The event was organized by the Center of State Building and Law, as well as the trade union committee of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus.

The meeting was attended by the Scientific Secretary, representatives of structural divisions, the Council of Young Scientists of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, as well as a representative of the Institute of History of NAS of Belarus Marina Zinchenko.

Zoya YURKEVICH spoke about her childhood memories of the first days of the war, the occupation and liberation of Minsk on July 3, 1944.

With pride Zoya Nikolaevna showed a photo of her father and said that he was an economist, a recipient of the Order of St. George, and during the Second Patriotic War he kept in touch with the partisans.

Zoya Nikolaevna also spoke about a little-known event in 1947 ‑ American humanitarian aid: second-hand things that turned out to be infected with typhus and caused the death of her mother, as well as a number of other Minsk residents who took these things.

Zoya Nikolaevna’s «recipe for healthy longevity» aroused keen interest among employees.

At the end of the meeting a representative of the trade union committee, Olga PIKTA, presented flowers to Zoya Nikolaevna, and the employees thanked Zoya Nikolaevna with applause.
