On June 28, at the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, the final of the internal competition «Youth – to the Belarusian Economy» was held

In accordance with the program of measures to conduct Economics Week, the final of the internal competition of youth projects «Youth – to the Belarusian Economy» was held at the Institute on June 28, carried out in accordance with the Regulation on the competition of research work of young scientists’ teams, approved by the Director of the Institute on March 31, 2023.

Scientific groups of young scientists (2-5 people) were allowed to participate in the competition. To participate, the scientific team needed to submit a project of research work ‑ a plan for the upcoming scientific research on a certain topic, developed by a scientific team on the basis of the existing scientific background in order to determine the key directions of fulfilling fundamental research aimed at obtaining new knowledge and results, checking scientific hypotheses, theories, approaches to solving problems or the application of new knowledge to achieve practical goals.

The purpose of the competition is to attract talented youth to the implementation of fundamental scientific research and to create additional incentives to support research activities.

Director of the Institute Denis MUKHA made a welcoming speech. In his speech, he noted the importance of attracting young scientists to independent fundamental research, gave practical advice on preparing applications to participate in scientific competitions and wished the participants success.

The participants of the competition presented their projects in the form of reports with presentations. In the process of presenting the projects, they spoke about the scientific novelty, noted the potential practical applicability of upcoming research, answered questions from the contest committee. Participants expressed gratitude to the contest committee for valuable practical advice that will help improve research projects and turn them into appropriate applications to participate in competitions.

To evaluate applications, a contest committee was created. It included:

Denis MUKHA ‑ chairman of the committee, Director of the Institute, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor;

Anastasia BOBROVA ‑ member of the committee, the Head of the Center of Human Development and Demography, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor;

Anna POPKOVA ‑ member of the committee, the Head of the Department of Socio-Economic Development Monitoring, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor.

After the discussion, the places were distributed as follows:

I place ‑ a team of researcher of the Center of the World Economy Andrey SULEIKOV, researcher of the Center of the World Economy Ekaterina TAVGEN, researcher of the Department of Socio-Economic Development Monitoring Alexander CEDRIK, researcher of the Center of Investment and Innovation Policy Alla CEDRIK with the project «Utilization information and communication technologies by organizations of the energy complex (by the type of economic activity) of the Republic of Belarus in 2022: comprehensive analysis, calculation methodology»;

II place – a team of junior researcher of the Center of Investment and Innovation Policy Julia VITYAZ, junior researcher of the Center of Investment and Innovation Policy Nikita VOITOVICH with the project «The possibility of electric vehicles’ innovative production in the context of international competition and current geopolitical conditions»;

III place – a team of junior researcher of the Department of Services Economy Anastasia KARPENKO, junior researcher of the Department of Services Economy Ekaterina KOLEDA, junior researcher of the Department of Services Economy Tatyana SAVLUK with the project «Voluntary medical insurance as a method of increasing staff motivation».

Young scientists with experience in preparing applications in competitions announced by the Belarusian Republican Fund for Fundamental Research have come to support the contestants.

The features of applications’ formation and the intricacies of work in the AIS «BRFFR» system were explained by Ekaterina TULEYKO.

Darya MARKEVICH shared the experience of undergoing training in the framework of the 7th season of the school «Teach a scientist» (Moscow).
