On July 4, 2023, at the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, on the occasion of Independence Day, a meeting with the «children of the war» Nadezhda LOS and Zoya YURKEVICH took place, where they spoke about their memoirs of the war years and the liberation of Belarus, the post-war restoration of our country and their labor activity, Director of the Institute of Economics Denis MUKHA made a welcoming speech, reported the Institute’s contribution to the assessment of damage caused to the country’s economy by German-fascist invaders, presented the heroines of the meeting with flowers and the addresses of welcome with the main state holiday Independence Day and the wish of a healthy longevity. Participants of the round table listened with interest to the soulful story of Nadezhda LOS, a minor prisoner of the Ozarichi concentration camp, Honored Teacher of the BSSR, excellent student of public education, laureate of the Republican contest «Woman of the Year 2014», chairman of the Club of Elders of the Minsk City Organization «The Belarusian Union of Women». Nadezhda LOS congratulated the employees of the Institute of Economics on Independence Day, Economist Day and presented her book «Flying Pages of Life ...». Congratulations, words of sincere admiration and gratitude to Nadezhda LOS for many years of labor and social activities in the BUW were spoken by a member of the Board of the Primary Organization of NAS BUW, the Head of the Center of Human Development and Demography, Anastasia BOBROVA. The memoirs of Zoya YURKEVICH could not left the participants indifferent. They were connected with the first day of the war, occupation and liberation of the city of Minsk from enemy invaders on July 3, 1944 as well as the little-known event of 1947 American humanitarian aid: Second-Hand stuff that was infected with typhoid and caused the death of her mother, as well as a number of other Minsk residents who took it. With pride, Zoya YURKEVICH reported that her father was a St. George Cavalier, and during the Great Patriotic War he maintained a connection with the partisans. Head of the Section of the Center of State Building and Law, Secretary of the IPG Antonina TRIPUZOVA (coordinator of the event) congratulated the heroines of the meeting and handed them gifts, and also shared the memoirs of her mother Yanina TRIPUZOVA, who miraculously was saved with her sister and mother from the fate of the burned alive residents of the village of Poradovschina, and then they hid a Jewish girl from the Nazis, risking their lives. Yuri SHCHERBAKOV, Deputy Head of the Belarusian-Chinese Analytical Center, asked some details of the life during the occupation, presented sweet gifts to Nadezhda LOS and Zoya YURKEVICH. Trade union committee of the Institute of Economics represented by Kirill PILETSKY also joined the congratulations. At the end of the meeting, Nadezhda LOS and Zoya YURKEVICH addressed parting words to young scientists of the Institute of Economics, urging them to protect the peace and independence of the country.
